Christmas Excerpts
(As an aside, when I was in Catholic grade school the nuns taught that the Catholic Church used the dates of already existing religions for holy days so that people who were used to celebrating on those days would more easily convert. It always made sense to me. Today, Winter Solstice is my favorite holiday. It coincides with Christmas and the re-emergence of longer days of sunshine.)
“The Christian religion is a parody on the worship of the sun, in which they put a man called Christ in the place of the sun, and pay him the adoration originally paid to the sun.” Thomas Paine, 1737-1809
“Christianity was in fact a Roman story developed politically… The political establishment sought to historize the Jesus figure for social control… By 325 A.D. in Rome Emperor Constantine convened the Council of Nicaea. It was during this meeting that the politically motivated doctrines were established and thus began a long history of bloodshed and fraud… leading to such joyous periods as the Dark Ages and the Inquisition.”
The 12 disciples are the 12 constellations.
The virgin is the constellation Virgo, also known as the House of Bread. Incidentally, Bethlehem literally translates to House of Bread.
